*ADDED JANUARY 7TH 2009*
Woa, 2008 is over already!? Woo I guess. Hey atleast christmas was a bit of fun, and New Years Eve was an immense amount of fun.
Thanks Alyssa for including me in your New Years insanity. I learned a lesson though...Don't give hannah candy after midnight!!!! Bad Idea...VERY BAD IDEA. Oh and don't mix Maya and Chris at 5 in the morning...someone will get a nose bleed!
New Insanity, New Opportunities, New Ideas, New Triumphs, New Defeats,
and
A New Year.
Let's start it right.
Happy New Year!

Its getting so close to New Years, and it just scares me how fast its approaching. I mean where did January go? When did September end? (Hehe song I <3) and WHAT happened to June?!? The Monster that is Time seems to have been extra hungry this year.
Okay, This may sound stupid but...I don't want this year to end. Yes, some rather crappy stuff has happened. Oh I don't know, Avalon's doctor completely messing up a Brain Surgery. Then again there was a lot of good too! Like Avalon's new doctor keeping her alive. Oh maybe my life changing would count as a good thing too.
This summer was honestly one of the most INSANE summers I think there ever will be in my life. I became a zooaide, (BEST DECISION EVER!!!) and met the nicest people. I don't think I'll ever lose contact with Hannah, Logan, Missy, or Geo.
Between volunteering at the zoo, being dragged to Doctor appointments for Avalon and crying over what happened to her, I changed. I'm not talking about my appearance. I'm still as fat and weird looking as ever. No, I'm talking about my feelings toward life, my attitude. For once in a very long time, I felt important. I actually had friends that gave a damn whether I lived or died.
I'm not saying that I never felt like that before. I feel important because of my family alot, but never from people i wasn't related too. Before the zoo, before this summer, I hate to admit it, but I really had no friends. I knew 1 guy, but he only talked to me because he THOUGHT (wrongly mind you) I'd put out if he was nice to me. (Hahaha dingbat didn't know me very well, now did he?)
No, this year something inside changed when I found out people other than my family did and could care about me. I don't know exactly what happened, but it did. I must say I owe 99% of that change to Hannah, Logan, Geo, Kitty and Missy. (I would have included Zac in there, because he helped me accept my bisexuality. But he dumped me and never said why so *rasberry* on him!)
welll thats all I really have time to write right now, but I will eventually add more!

Vacation
Williamsburg was a crazy amount of fun! We took a billion and one pictures. Our friends we stayed in the condos with took my mom and I out on a ghost hunt. (NO disbelievers comment on that!) In the middle of the week my entire familly got sick. Mom and I got head colds, and my sibs and dad all got a horrible stomach virus. Needless to say our condo was FUN.
We all rested for a day, then we went to Virginia Beach! All of us went, even our friends, Marnita and Kevin. We all packed into our 6 seat van, there were 8 of us. Can you say crowded? I sat on the floor for the entire 1 1/2 hour trip. We passed a cop one time and I had to lay down on the floor. It was to cold to swim, so we collected seashells. It was high tide though, so we pretty much went swimming anyway. :P The girls made sand castles too. We went to Virginia Beach Pier too, they sold live hermit crabs with hand painted shells.
Not only did we go to Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, we went to BUSCH GARDENS too! I am a roller coaster junkie, so is my dad, so we were really excited. Busch Gardens is soooooo beautiful, but WAY over priced. We rode all the adult rides, except one, and my sibs rode all the kids rides. None of them were really anything to flip out over. The Griffin was amazing, I'll give you that. The park is well themed, and very well kept, but $65 for an adult!?! Thats CRAZY! Friends of ours gave us 4 free tickets, so we only had to pay for Avalon. She was 1/2 off because she is in a wheelchair, and Anam was free.
All in all, vacation was fun, and I'm glad to be home!

Buh-Bye!
Well I have 1 week until I disappear for awhile.
I am going on a family Vacation to Williamsburg next Saturday! We leave at 4 in the morning, for an EIGHT hour drive. With a 5, 7, and 2 year old. Please. Kill. Me. Now don't get me wrong, I'm excited about Williamsburg, and the condo we are staying in. (We are staying with friends of ours its their time share) But I hate being in the car, I hate long car trips. XP blech.
On that note. I will answer my phone in the car. I will answer my cell phone most of the time in the evening. But I will not answer it during the day. We are going to be very busy. If you call I'll try to call u back. But please, NO TEXTS!!! We don't have texting on our plan. :P
Well, I'm off to clean and pack!!

Malachi
I briefly talked about losing my furbaby (dog) in the last blog. This is a blog all about him.
His name is Malachi, it means messenger from god. We didn't name him he came with the name. And WOW did that name fit him. He was a terror, a hug-a-bug, a sweetie, and a disaster all in one dog. Without even knowing it he helped prepare us for what would come with Avalon.
When I was about 4ish we rescued him. He had been chained outside 24/7 with hardly any food or water up until the day we took him. By that time he was 6 months old, talk about a crappy way to start life! What we learn shortly after we took him is that he was part wolf. Not full, not half, not even a fourth. But enough he had some wolfish behaviors, made worse by the beginning of his life.
He was VERY food protective, partially because he never had enough before us and partially because it was his nature. We learned to work around him, and make HIM happy. Not only was he food protective, he was destructive, scared to DEATH of the outside, and of anyone other than us. He dug a hole in our kitchen floor, he bit a piece of our counter off, he bit a bunk out of our dinning room table, he chewed apart door frames and he destroyed random dog cages. He yipped at his own shadow, he ran from squirrels, he cowered if you said boo, he hid from 3 pound Yorkies for god's sake! Was keeping him easy? Not at all! Did we do it? YES because he was sweet and we loved him.
Because he was part wolf he only ever accepted a few people. It took him years to accept my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and godfathers. My mom, dad, brother, sisters and I were all his "Packmates." Yes you read that right, packmates. It meant he loved us and considered us family. He howled for us, not wolfy howled, more "awoo-woo-woooo." (Think dogs talking in a howly way) Malachi and I had a special bond. He was my honest and true furbaby.
Malachi had been very sick for about a month, but things took a terrible turn. He had been having cascading strokes. He had lost his vision about 2 weeks before Friday, his hearing was slowly leaving, his sense of smell was nearly gone, and he was barely eating.Out rule is that if an animal is so sick they are in pain and/or they can't wag their tail and stand up its time for them to be put down. If whatever is wrong is curable then we try that first, but unfortunately Malachi was incurable.
By Thursday August 28th, he couldn't stand up anymore, he quit wagging his tail, and if you touched him to hard he wailed in pain. We spent the rest of Thursday hugging him, and telling him how much we loved him and how much he'd be missed. I am pretty sure I went through 4 boxes of tissues that day.
On Friday August 29th at about 8:45 in the morning my dear packmate and furbaby left our plane of existence. My dad stayed with him for the procedure, but he thinks that Malachi passed before he was even given the medicine. Before he left for the vets I cut a hunk of his fur out, and took off his collar. The fur is in a plastic bag hanging were I can see it everyday and his collar hangs with the collars of other past dogs.
Needless to say I was and still am a wreck.
I love you Malachi and I always will.
XOXO

Back from no electronics hell!
I'm finally free!! Mostly. I still don't have my cell phone back but I do have my...COMPUTER!! WOO HOO!! Electronic therapy does a person good. I am worried though, I think one of my friends is enduring the same thing I was. Geo has disappeared! If he doesn't start returning IMs soon I'm sending out a missing persons report. Only kidding I bet he's just busy.
Well in the time I've been gone I have.....
Got a cold and have not been able to get rid of it for the past 2 1/2 weeks (If I cough one more time I am going to be homicidal)
Restarted something I should not have (No details)
and had to have a dog put down (I'm still not in a good space)
The last 2 1/2 weeks have sucked majorly. I hate being sick, I hate giving in and I really hate saying goodbye to my furbaby. (Its what I call my pets, gimme a break.)
Sorry this was kind of a rant blog. Sorta. I'll post more positive ones when I feel more positive.

Sorry!
I have kinda disappeared for a while. I was DRAGGED to family camp. Its held by an organizationg for familes with childhood cancer in them. We got to go because of Avalon. I ended up meeting some really nice people and playing volleyball with 2 of the cutest guys there. (And 20 other assorted teens too!) My family and I went canoeing, paddleboating, crawdad searching (otherwise know as creeking) and hiking. It was awesome fun.
Oh and I disappeared because I'm grounded. Yep! No cell phone, very limited computer time the whole nine yards! I really don't feel like explaining WHY I was grounded on here because my computer time is winding down. But if you really want to know, call my house. I miss you guys bunches anyway.
When I am ungrounded I'll add some more longer blogs, but for right now I got to run!

Zooaide Banquet
At the end of every Zooaide year there is a celebratory/goodbye Banquet. I decided I wasn't going to have any regrets. And I don't! I spent a bunch of money on shoes I really don't need but have wanted for a long time. I made my mom pay way to much for a fabulous outfit. And I had an amazing time!
When I walked in I was attacked by Grace, Hannah, Melissa and Sara. I'm not talking they walked up, I'm talking they full speed ran and group hug attacked me! Another Zooaide, Chase, named us Mob 1 because we were loud and kinda took over. We sat together, walked together and ate together. When the adults were doing their speeches (BLECH) Hannah was smart enough to get out a little notebook. We took turns writing down random things to make each other laugh. We had to destroy the evidence though, some of it wasn't the nicest stuff ever. But it was all hilarious!
The awards were so funny. Geo won Mr. Congeniality, AND it was his birthday! Sara won Second Most Hours for a Zooaide Girl and blushed! Logan got his end of Zooaide certificate. We yelled like mad for all of the awards and got some odd looks.
I ended the night hugging everyone, even the supervisors! I even *deep breath* hugged my crush!
Yep It was a insanely busy night, and well worth the effort!

The Zoo!
As you have already read I'm a volunteer at the Columbus Zoo. Well it has changed my life.
This Summer was the first I could volunteer because I turned 13 in November 2007. Teen zoo volunteers are called Zooaides, adults are called Docents. Zooaides can volunteer from age 13-18, if you turn 18 during the volunteer year or after it. Zooaides only work from June-August, Regionaides can work all year. After working two Summers and being in good standing (Not having the supervisors hate your guts) you can apply to be a Regionaide aswell as a Zooaide. It just means you work more and only work in one section of the zoo on days you Regionaide. If you work one Summer and make all 56 hours that are required they invite you back for the next Summer. I worked 90 hours, so I will be invited back for next year!
I really hope that was semi-understandable.
Ok now before the Zooaide year starts you have to go to training, no matter what year you are. I went to the first training of the year. I met WONDERFUL people there. They were the people that helped change me.
First there is Logan. I was being really shy, and nervous that at training, which is SO not me. Logan asked what year I was, and after that we just started chatting. He was nice and funny and made me open up. Logan is a 17 year old 4th year. Or he was. This was his last year, and we will all miss him TERRIBLY, but don't think I'll lose contact.
While I was chatting with Logan a random very pretty tall blond girl commented on my hair. (I had an orangey-red colored streak at the time, for more info check Avalon's site) We started talking too. Her name is Grace. Grace was really nice this past summer, but as the months have gone by, I've seen she's someone I have no intrest in being associated with.
I focused on Logan but he is not the only person I have come to love.
(EDIT)
I had put just a tiny thing in here about Hannah earlier this year. Well, I'm taking it out to be replaced with a whole lotta love! During the summer Hannah was super busy so I really didn't get to meet the REAL her untill this fall and winter. Two words to describe her..... Absolutely INSANE!!! In the best possible way. She's my best friend and I have the sneaking suspiscion she always will be. Loud and crazy whenever she feels like it, but the most wonderfull, accepting, caring person when you need her. I can't really go into detail on here, but she's helped me find the real Aurora, and set her free! I love her to death and I am LUCKY to have her associate with a shmucko like me.
Melissa is a walking angel. She is kind, thoughtful, funny and brilliant. She is a dancer and an all around cool person! She is one of the most selfless people I know.
Sarah is a quiet intensity, thats the best descrpition of her. She just lets out with random bursts of hyper crazyness. She is super fun.
Kim just kills me sometimes. She is a HUGE Jonas Brothers fan. She is a wonderful, funny, randomly crazy girl. She can make you grin about three seconds after you meet her.
Moving on to the guys-
Josh is just so....Josh! He is really a quiet guy untill he gets to know you or you get him in a good mood. Then he is hilarious. One day working the cornhole station we just started throwing beanbags at each other just for random fun!.
Robbie is funny is a quiet way. He is super smart, but he trys to hide it. He loves to scare you by leaning over your shoulder. He is 6'6 and more quiet than a mouse. He's a giant teddy bear though!
Then there is Geo...How to describe Geo...well how about different?! He is smart, funny, nice, and an all around good person. He plays (Edit: played soccer, accidental injury keeps him from playing anymore) soccer and has a great outlook on life. I don't think you can make Geo mad, and if you could he wouldn't tell you! He is just an awesome guy and a great friend.
There are many more people, but these are the ones that have touched my life.
You guys all rock! I can't wait until next summer, I miss you guys already!
XOXOX,
Aurora

About me!
This is my first blog EVER so cut me a little slack, please?
Well if you've looked around the site you'll already know my name is Aurora and I'm 13.
Well I'm not your average 13 year old. I don't go crazy when you say "Hannah Montana is coming" I don't beg to get a new Abercrombie & Fitch shirt. I freak out when you say "Aerosmith is coming" I beg to get new combat boots at Hot Topic. I enjoy reading, drawing and listening to music more than watching TV. Well unless its hockey that's on, in that case I'm glued to the couch yelling for my teams! I'd prefer to be at the Columbus Zoo volunteering than at the spa getting my nails done. Yep you can say I'm more than a bit different than most teens!
Ok you know random facts about me now. How about some more indepth stuff? I have shoulder blade length naturally brown hair. It is a reddish brown at the moment, thank you chemicals!! I have greenish brown eyes and I wear contacts. I am about 5 foot 6 and for lack of a better word...rather fluffy. I'm working on it though! I love to read, listen to music, IM with friends, watch hockey, volunteer, swim and hangout with my friends. I will read just about anything except romance novels, I mean come on, BLECH. I listen to mostly 80's hard rock. Thats really it about me!
I've established I'm different, so let me establish how my life in general is too. I have 3 younger siblings. Ambrosi is a 7 year old little girl, Avalon is a 5 year old little girl and Anam is an almost 2 year old little boy. Pretty normal right? WRONG!! Avalon is in remission from Cancer. That's not all, she has bone, nerve, vision, and brain damage from the chemo. She now has an implantation in her brain called a Shunt that controls the spinal fluid in her spine and skull. Because of everything that has happened we are involved with some of the nicest people in the world. You really can make lemonade from nearly anything!
So you know the general stuff about me now. If you really wanna know anything else, either send me a question or leave me a comment!
Check back for more blogs soon!!
